RAFFMA Children's Book

Layout & Iconography
Project Overview
The goal of this book was to create a sort of interactive experience for the children that visited the museum. As they went through the exhibits, they could flip through the pages of the book and follow along to increase their retention of what they saw.
My Process
Before starting the work on this book, I researched the previous variations that the museum had done of this book before I started working there. They had a consistent color palette and typeface, so I made sure those were included in my variation. After that, I began researching other children's books and what other museums around the world found to work.
With this book, I did not want to stray too far from the actual imagery that the children would see while in the museum. In doing so, this re enforces the memories they would make there.

The icons I created were based on pictures I took of the artifacts that I traced over with the brush tool in Illustrator to create a "handmade" feel to. I made sure that all of the main artifacts / references would have an icon to go with them, such as the mummified hand, offering table, and stela.

By creating these points of reference, it was easy to place the content alongside it to create an incredibly memorable experience for the kids viewing the exhibit.
